The headquarter of Dolakha district, Charikot is an accessible 133 km from Kathmandu.  1554m above sea level it is a popular hill station, and a favoured stop on the pilgrimage to Gaurishankar and treks around Dolakha- namely to Jiri and Besisahar. Mornings are exceptionally beautiful here, with clouds rolling in concealing the stepped houses on the hillside under a white veil. Add to that the sweeping panaroma of majestic mountains resplendent in the morning rays and the view alone is worth the 5 hour drive from the capital. Unpretentious and bashful, Charikot makes for an endearing destination.
